Lake Anna Fishing Report

Our Lake Anna Report is Provided by our local Fishing Guide Chris Craft.

I am wondering where Old Man Winter is at this year. The calendar says it is February, but the temps feel more like late March early April. The water temps are way above average for this time of year. No ICE any where on the lake. The fish are eagerly taking all kinds of bait presentations. The HOT TOPIC in the bass fishing world are MULTI ARM RIGS (Alabama Rig). These rigs are catching Bass & Striper here at the lake. At Anna Point Marina we carry several different variations of the A-Rig. Venom Lures Pay-Me-Rig, Toothe Ache Extractor rig (E-Rig) & Dave's Tournament Tackle Cast-A-Brella Rig.

We also have a very unique MULTI ARM made by good friend and client, Darin Clements. The 208 Crappie Rig is sold EXCLUSIVELY at Anna Point Marina. I had the opportunity to finally try them on the Hot Side and had GREAT results. Stop by Anna Point Marina and DEMO any of these MULTI ARM RIGS for yourself.

BASS- The green fish have been very active all winter. With the mild temps there has been very little cabin fever for our anglers. Multi Arm rigs are catching there fair share of fish. These rigs paired with Bass Assassin Sea Shads are a deadly combination. Look for fish to be close to deep water just in case OLD MAN WINTER makes a showing. The fish have been really shallow the past 2 weeks. Water temps here at mid lake have not dropped below 42 degrees as of this time. Suspending jerkbaits, Tiger Shad Spinnerbaits, Burton Minnow's & Shaky head plastics are also working well.

STRIPER- The Linesides are making their way back up in the rivers with the above average temps. Look for active fish around Christopher Run, Harris Pond, Terrys Run & the S-Turns in Pamunkey. Bass Assassin Sea Shads, Multi Arm Rigs, Toothe Ache Spoons and jerkbaits are all producing fish. Down at Dike 3, there are loads of sub keeper stripers willing to take your offerings. There are keepers mixed in with them as well. This is a great place to take the youngsters to for ROD ACTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CRAPPIE- The Specks are on the move and eagerly taking small minnows and jigs at the present time. Yesterday (2-2-12) a good friend of mine caught over 300 crappie in 2-5 feet of water. The weather will play a major role on the Crappie this month, if it stays above average look for March to be one of the best on record!!!!!!!!
