MUSKIE FISHING ON THE NEW RIVER

The New River in South Western VA has become a hot spot for Muskie the last couple of years. This area is known for its small mouth fishing; and with our rocky structures the walleye fishing has been good also. My cousin and I fish this area quite often.  I got a phone call, it was my cousin Robert.”Let’s go fishing.”  He didn't know it was the Daytona 500 but he talked me into it. Good thing he did!  We took off and fished one area for about an hour throwing Muskie bait. We went up and down maybe twice, so I put on a walleye jig. About the 5th cast this 34 ½ inch Muskie hit. I wasn’t sure I could get him in on 6lb. test, but I was lucky and landed him in about 10 minutes. Later that day we had two more Muskie in the boat. It was an awesome day.   Just keep throwing them baits and you will run into one of them brutes. DB

These 2 nice Largemouth from the Shenandoah River put Corey and Mark over the top for their first place finish on July 10th.  Outdoor Addictz spoke with Corey after the weigh in and he reported that the fish were shallow and his 3 best fish came on MAD BASS Tubes.  Corey held up his Largemouths and said, "MAD BASS lures are not just for Smallmouths".  Congratulations.

Outdoor Addictz caught up with their Pro Staffer Ken Presley fishing Shenandoah Valley Bass Tournament.  All anglers reported a pretty tough day on the River, even our fishing addict.  Ken said that in the last hour he caught this nice one that moved him up into first place.  Ken wanted to thank his dedicated sponsors: St. Croix Rods, Tru-Tungsten, Costa, Lowrance, Mercury and Motorguide.

Outdoor Addictz Pro-Staffer Ken Presley shows off his Shenandoah River 5 lber.  Ken said it came on a Tru-Tungsten jig fished on his 6'6" St. Croix Jig-N-Worm Rod.
